Audi Q5 assembly in India

Audi Q5In recent years the economics of some countries such as India and China recorded a big rise in sales of new cars. Orientation to these new markets for the automotive industry forced many car companies make major investments in those countries. This 2010 is expected to be one of the strongest years for the automotive industry, a major merit of India, China and Brazil. Audi factory in Aurangabad, India has started production of the compact SUV Q5. Q7 younger brother is the third model of the German’s company, which will be produced in a factory in India. Last year in Aurangabad produced only 732 vehicles. From the opening of the plant in September 2007 until now produced about 2,000 cars. This year is expected to be assemble about 2400 units, more than three times more than last year. By 2015 up to 6,000 units will be rolling off the line each year.

Q5_India“The production of the Q5 is part of our long-term growth strategy in India,” says Frank Dreves, Audi Board Member for Production: “The Indian market for automobiles will grow very rapidly, and the Q5 is the right automobile at the right time. “Final assembly of the Audi Q5 takes place in five work cycles on two assembly lines alongside the A4 and A6 at the Volkswagen Group’s Aurangabad plant.

Production at the plant in Aurangabad is intended only for the Indian market, except Q5, A4 and A6 from Audi also offers its Indian customers the Audi A8, Q7 and TT, as well as the R8 supercar. The range of engines which are assembled in the Indian plant are: the new 1.8 liter TFSI, 2.0 TDI and a 2.0 TFSI for the A4, A6 are available with 3.0 TFSI, 2.8 FSI, 2.7 TDI and the 3.0 TDI, Q5 will be assembled with two different engine 2.0 TFSI and the 3.0 TDI.
