World fastest Hybrid Truck Volvo

Soon after improving world speed record for diesel trucks in June this year, Volvo Trucks has announced that preparing a new record. This time it is a hybrid version of the truck, diesel and electric motor. The prototype is called “Mean Green” and will try to improve the record for fastest hybrid truck in the spring of 2011. Pilot who will try to set the new record is a Swedish Boije Ovebrink. He is sure to set a new record, having stated that “Mean Green” is the fastest hybrid truck on the world. Conventional diesel engines Volvo have a displacement of 16 liters and system Volvo Penta biturbo. Its maximum power is 1900 hp (1417 kW). Electric motor adds another 200 hp (149 kW), maximum torque is 1000 Nm (738 lb-ft). The gearbox is automatic I-Shift. For the record from Volvo have reduced the weight of front axle with 43 kg (95 lbs). They are removed and the first speed from transmission, which has proved useless because of the huge torque. This had saved another 7 lbs. Even Boije Ovebrink promised to reduce its weight by about 20 kg until the spring of 2011.
