4MATIC for new Mercedes CLS

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS is not yet on the market, but already being developed 4MATIC modification of the elegant coupe with 4 doors. Permanent all-wheel drive system will be installed for the first time in the luxury CLS. Currently the model is subjected to strenuous tests in extreme winter conditions on the Timmelsjoch high alpine road in Austria in the company of S-, CL-and R-Class. The mechanical principle of the 4MATIC system featuring a 45:55 torque split between the front and rear axles and the multi-disc limited-slip centre differential with a basic locking torque of 50 Nm offer all the right ingredients. From Mercedes promised that the fuel consumption is increased of only 0.2 to 0.6 liters per 100 km. 4MATIC option of CLS will be available first in versions CLS 350 CDI diesel and gasoline CLS 350 CGI. From March will be available and the version with four-cylinder engine CLS 250 CDI, and the top version CLS 63 AMG. For the moment, AMG with 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system is available only for SUV’s models. 4×4 drivetrain provides much greater stability in both dry and wet condition, on snow and ice is necessary. Today, Mercedes-Benz offers nearly 50 models with 4MATIC across ten model series. The system makes debut of the M-Class in 1997. In the middle of summer is expected that all CLS modification be offer 4MATIC option.
