Ford officially unveiled new C-Max. Model in Europe will be offered in two versions, C-Max and Grand C-Max, by the name is clear that the second would be bigger. For U.S. market is available only version Grand C-Max which will be called only C-Max. The family van will have two four cylinder gasoline engines. Standard 2.5 liters will have a maximum power of 168 hp. The new gasoline 1.6 EcoBoost, which according to Ford is about 20% more efficient than 2.5L engine will be available for the new C-Max with a power of 160 hp. For European customers there will be and several diesel modifications. C-MAX has a 109.7-inch wheelbase and an overall length of 178 inches, comparatively close to the original minivans offered in North America. C-MAX delivers room for up to seven passengers or five occupants with a generous amount of cargo.
“This all-new model is set to take small crossover performance to a new level, giving drivers a class-leading combination of responsive, sporty handling, and overall refinement and quietness similar to the standard found in larger luxury vehicles,” said John Davis , chief engineer for the North American C-MAX.
Most interesting in the new C-Max is Hands-free rear liftgate system. Automatic trunk opens by passing a leg motion under the rear bumper when the driver’s key fob is in his or her pocket, Ideal if carrying several packages. This system was shown for the first time in a conceptual model of VW Passat, but Ford is the first which it is installed in the mass production car.
