GP2 Series champion for this season Pastor Maldonado was officially named the Williams driver in 2011. He will partner the team with veteran Rubens Barrichello. Maldonado replaced in the team Nico Hyulknberg. A few days after Williams announced that they will seek a stable pilot with serious sponsors to enable the team to get fresh money. Test driver of Williams next year will be Walter Botas. During the tests for young drivers in Abu Dhabi, Maldonado drives the cars of Williams and HRT (Hispania Racing). Pastor is supported by the Government of Venezuela and the domestic oil company PDVSA.
