During the Frankfurt Motor Show, Toyota presented the 2012 Avensis. The popular model retains its proportions, but gets a new, more aggressive style. The main difference are in the front, where the front headlights have become closer and are equipped with LED daytime lights, the front grille is now larger, with a more aggressive look. At the rear changes are less noticeable, and include new bumpers and new lights. Have a slight change in the rims, as for 2012 there is an option dark color.

In the interior has changed the base light color, now in white. Materials used in the interior have also been improved, and adding some extra options like entertainment system Touch and Go Plus, navigation system with 3D images, email, voice commands and more.

The European version of the Avensis will be available with three engine variants – one gasoline and two diesels. The gasoline version is equipped with the familiar 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine with Valvematic producing 145 hp. In diesel engines changes are small. 2.2 D-4D diesel generates 148 hp and a smaller 2.0-liter D-4D diesel deliver 124 hp. According to Japanese company, however, emissions are reduced on average by 15%.
