The sports division of Mercedes categorically denied the possibility of a diesel model. The German company doesn’t wants to follow the example of its main competitors from BMW, which was officially announced that it will install 3.0L turbo diesel engine with 3 turbo system in four models with the M badge.

Ola Kallenius (AMG boss) said: “Such a move would introduce too many compromises to our performance-focused line-up. We looked at diesel a few years back, but gasoline engines have obvious benefits of sound, weight, agility and response “.

AMG plans to focus on new powerful turbocharged gasoline engines. Ola Kallenius citing an example with the new 5.5-litre V8, which replaces the old 6.2 naturally aspirated engine in models 63AMG. The new engine delivers up to 25% fuel economy and 29% less CO2 emissions. At the same time offers a better performance.
